Humana Retirement Savings Plan Highlights
Investing Your Savings

You control the investment direction of your account balance in the HRSP. The Company Matching Contributions will also be invested per your investment instructions. Learn more about the HRSP's investment choices by reviewing information online at

There are two types of investment changes you can make to your account. You can change the investment of new contributions, or you can change the investment of money already in the account.

  • Investment Instructions: You can change how future contributions made to your account are invested.
  • Rebalance Portfolio: You may transfer existing money in your account among investment choices at any time, subject to prospectus requirements. You may transfer a percentage from one fund to another. Or, you may change the way your entire account balance is invested among the fund choices with one rebalance request.

A note about risk: Humana has made available a variety of investment options. As you make your investment choices, keep in mind that there is risk involved. The funds differ in growth potential and risk. Pursuant to Department of Labor Regulation 2550.404c-1(b)(2)(i)(B)(1)(i), this Retirement Plan is intended to qualify as an ERISA 404(c) Plan which relieves plan fiduciaries of liability for any investment losses that result from investment directions made by Plan participants.

Making Investment Decisions

Some people are savvy investors, and are confident in making investment decisions. Others may want assistance when making investment selections. Whether you're savvy or uncertain, the Humana Retirement Savings Plan can accommodate your investment needs.

  • Retirement Plan Advice powered by GuidedChoice®2 – If you don't have the time or expertise to make investment decisions, the HRSP includes investment and savings advice. Personal recommendations using an independent investment advice tool, GuidedChoice®, is available at no additional cost to you. This advice is available online at or you may schedule a phone consultation by calling 1-800-724-7526 (en Español, call 1-877-905-2553).
  • Target Date Retirement Funds3 – These funds enable you to make a single investment election into the fund that most closely matches your planned retirement date and other retirement planning goals. Each target date retirement fund is a balanced portfolio of investments that is professionally managed. Each fund's portfolio of investments automatically adjusts to be more conservative up to and beyond the target date. If you lack the confidence to manage your investments on your own, target retirement funds may be right for you. It is recommended that you review your investments at least annually.

The values of the funds will fluctuate up to and after the target dates. There is no guarantee the funds will provide adequate income at or through retirement.

  • Schwab Personal Choice Retirement Account® (PCRA)4 – Savvy investors may want to elect a Schwab Personal Choice Retirement Account (PCRA) as an investment option. PCRA is a self-directed brokerage account that enables you to invest your savings in vehicles that are not included in the HRSP's investment options. Additional fees apply to the PCRA.
  • Plan Selected Funds – These funds are an array of investments chosen by your employer to give you a diverse range of choices.

3 The target date retirement funds are subject to market volatility and risks associated with the underlying investments. Risks include exposure to international and emerging markets, small company and sector equity securities, and fixed income securities subject to changes in inflation, market valuations, liquidity, prepayments, and early redemption. The funds are built for investors who expect to start gradual withdrawals of fund assets on the target date, to begin covering expenses in retirement. The principal value of the funds is not guaranteed at any time, and will continue to fluctuate up to and after the target date.

4 Schwab Personal Choice Retirement Account® (PCRA) is offered through Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (Member SIPC), the registered broker/dealer, which also provides other brokerage and custody services to its customers.
